GobblingGoblin
A downloadable game

A little goblin, a pickaxe, and a way into the mountain.
Gobbling Goblin is a 2D mining and exploration game I'm working on. You gather wood and ore, improve your equipment, and work your way through caves. There are goblins to talk to above ground, and traces of missing people to follow below it.

Start with what you can carry
Pick up your first tools near the cave entrance. Chop trees, break through the rock, and bring resources back to the shop. You can sell what you find, buy better tools and weapons, and spend materials on upgrades at the workbench.
As you explore, you'll find rarer ores, abandoned camps, and enemies. Wooden platforms and lamps help you make your way underground. Your dash can get you through an enemy, but it won't get you through a wall.

There are people waiting at home
Borin has work for you near the entrance. His supply requests are the beginning of a longer search: Edda, Jaro, and Oren haven't returned. Their notes and belongings lead you further into the caves and back to the people of Goblington.
Conversations and discoveries stay in your journal, so you can read them again as you piece things together.

Playing in your browser
Use a keyboard and mouse. Fullscreen gives the interface more room. The game has English and German text; choose your language in Options. Music and sound effects are available. Spoken narration is currently disabled.
- A / D — move; Space — jump; Shift — sprint.
- Left mouse button — use your equipped tool or weapon; 1–0 — select a hotbar slot.
- Ctrl — dash; H — use a healing potion if you have one.
- E — interact with the shop or workbench nearby.
- T — talk to a nearby goblin; J — open your journal.
- I — inventory; M — map once you own one.
- Esc — menu; Q — quicksave after your first manual save.
To save for the first time, open the menu and choose Saved games, then Save here. There are three save slots. Browser saves belong to the browser you're playing in; clearing its site data can remove them.
A work in progress
This is the current playable version, and I'm still working on it. If you try it, I'd like to hear where you got stuck, what felt good, or what didn't make sense. A short description of what happened and which browser you used is helpful.
